The pie charts compare the energy utilized in Australian households and the greenhouse gases emitted by the use of this energy. It is clear from the figures that energy used for heating and water heating is prominent but the greenhouse gases generated by the energy used for water heating are the highest.
The energy required for heating purposes is at the apex which is 42% and water heating with 30% followed by the energy utilized by other appliances is 15%. The energy exhausted by refrigeration methods is quite low at about 7%. The lowest energy is used in cooling and lighting i.e. 2% and 4% respectively.
The energy utilized by water heating and other appliances produces a large number of greenhouse gases that is 32% and 28% respectively. The greenhouse gases emitted by heating is 15% and by refrigeration is 14%, which are somewhat similar. The lighting and cooling sectors are much eco friendly, as lighting generates only 8% of greenhouse gases and cooling contributes to only 3% of these gases.
We can conclude that the utilization of water heating and other appliances should be minimized to decrease the production of greenhouse gases in the environment.
