Both reading and lecture are about to rapid declination in the population of sea otter. The article suggests that pollution is the main cause of this serious issue and provides three reasons to supports this hypothesis. However, the lecture says predators hypothesis is dominent factor and cast doubt the points made in reading.
Firstly, according to reading increase industrial chemical pollution is the cause of otter death and this is reveal by taking sample of polluted sea water. This point is refuted by professor by saying that it is predators attack not industrial pollution. Lecture explain that if water pollution was the cause then why there is no dead body on beaches.
Secondly, auther posits that along with otter there is also other spices which have equally thretend such as sea lion, seals, which means it equally affact the entire ecosystem. In contrast, lecturer says whale are decreased population is beacuse of hunted by human and orac now prey small spices such as sea lion and seals to survive.
Finally, article points out that uneven pattern in declination in sea otter indicates that pollution distributed asymtrically due to ocean current. The more the pollution the more reduction in otter. Professor cast doubt this point by saying that odd pattern of sea otter declination is the best explanation of predators attack as it is found at certain location sea otter have negligible population which mean at this location they could easly eccess by predators.at rocky and shalow places there is no declination which means they are out of reach of predators.
In conclusion, lecture explain that sea otter decline due to predators attack beacuse no dead bodies found at beaches and big spices hunt by human so large spices prey small to survive and asymtrical pattern is due to place how easly predators can found their food.
