Some people believe that government funding of the arts is necessary to ensure that the arts can flourish and be available to all people. Others believe that government funding of the arts threatens the integrity of the arts.
Write a response in which you discuss which view more closely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should address both of the views presented.
As an arts enthusiast, I agree with governmental funding in such a way that be accomplished without direct intervention. The government is the largest company of a country which is responsible for bolstering the cultural issues by investments or financial facilities.
Arts in its general connotation is all creative products which reflects the deepest interests, cults and traditions of a society while leads a nation's perception of life toward higher levels in terms of complexity and novelty.
Although the artifacts can be sold out to refund the expenditure which is used upon its creation, artists regularly do not create to run a business. Instead, artists try to express their personal feelings and attitudes toward life and all of its expressions. In other words, it means that the arts is not business but can be managed by businessmen. For example, when a sculptor attempts to create a piece of art, he/she should pay for the raw materials and necessary equipments personally. At the end, a sculpture is made out of wood or stone which is an invaluable part of the artist life and makes people to admire the artist. However, it does not mean that the money which is spent on this work will return to its creator unless it enters the arts market.
On one hand, governmental monetary helps may support the artist to work on their ideas without the threat of financial shortages; to be more daring and pioneering the arts trends.
On the other hand, governmental interference may result in two unwanted consequences. First, it usher the politics to the fantastic world of arts and may lead to a deviation of the natural route of arts development in order to appeasing the politicians desires. Second, the governmental financial supports endanger the private section which is not as powerful as government in this regard.
In conclusion, I believe that governmental supports should not be exerted directly; instead, it should boost the private section to support the artists and the non-stoppable progression of artistic trends.
