In the given memo from the director of student housing at Buckingham College states that Buckingham College should build copious number of new dormitories which would eventually attract students to enroll at Buckingham. To buttress his/her argument, the memo adduced by providing an explanation which indicates that in coming 50 years of time the existing domitory space will be indequate and renting apartment will be dear for students ensuing difficult to afford off-campus housing.Hence, before the recommendation can be properly evaluated there certain things that needs to be addressed and explained.
First of all, with the aggrandization enrollment of students at current time we can not forecast the future. Perhaps Buckingham College would probably have lose it's charm in the following years. For example, At this moment students might have been attracted to the Buckingham College because of it's facilities , faculties and administration which would probably change in the coming 50 years of time. If either of these statements has some merit, then the argument presented by the author is weakened.
Secondly, Increase in the price of the apartment in recent years might have been caused due to other reasons. The author in argument prematurely assumes that wax in the price of apartments in the area of Buckingham College is due to the more enrollment of the students. For example, may be the water facilities and environment around the area is the resaon for the sudden increase in the price of apartments. If the above statement is true than, the argument of the author doesn't hold any water.
In conclusion, the argument, as it stands now, is considerably flawed due to it's reliance on several unwarranted assumptions. If the author is able to offer more evidence on the above quandaries (perhaps in the form of more systematic flow of research) then it will be possible to fully evaluate the viability of the above recommendation.
