Given process diagram illustrates the working of a hydroelectric power station. The electricity is generated with the help of water and turbines.
Initially, the water is collected in the high-level reservoir which is hold by the Dam and open in day time. Here, water is feed to the low level reservoir and the flow enable the turbines to rotate. The electricity is thus produced with the help of generator which is connected with turbines.
In night the water collected in low-level reservoir during energy generation is further reversed back to source collector. Again the same turbines are operated reversibly. Hence, these turbines have dual functioning. The channel for water transferring is same only flow changes which is downward during day and upward in night.
Final stage is power station where generated energy is transferred with the help of power lines to the national grid. This is the most efficient of energy generation with the help of natural resurces.
