The given chart offers information on how many British people emigrated to five countries namely Australia, Spain, New Zealand, the USA, and France throughout the period of 4 years commencing from 2004.
Overall, there was a decline in the number of British migrants to all countries examined with the exception of Australia. In addition, Australia consistently had the highest figures during the period; meanwhile, the opposite was true for New Zealand and the USA.
As can be seen from the bar chart, around 40 thousand British people migrated to Australia in 2004, with a subsequent increase to the highest point of more than 50 thousand in 2006 and a final significant decrease to 43 thousand. Similarly, the figure for British emigrants to France dramatically increased from 20 thousand people in 2004, reaching a peak of 35 thousand in 2005, but then substantially fell to under 20 thousand at the end of the period.
The number of British migrants to Spain and New Zealand followed the same pattern with a steady decline from 35 and 25 thousand in 2004 to 27 and 20 thousand in 2007 in that order. In the meantime, the USA rapidly decreased in the number of British immigrants from 25 in 2004 to 20 thousand at the end, despite a considerable increase in 2006.
