The diagram illustrates the process of making electricity in a hydroelectric power station.
Overall, the process is distributed into day and night stages. It is also noticeable that electricity is produced mostly in daylight stages. However, at night time, water is pumped to the high-level reservoir.
To begin with, firstly, water is carried from the river to a high-level reservoir prevented by a dam. There is an intake flowing to the power station that opens during the day and closes at night. During the day, water flows through turbines to rotation it makes electricity. Then, the electricity is generated from the generator to the national grid. Next, water is transferred to the low-level reservoir in order to store for the night stages.
In the nighttime, water stored in the low-level reservoir is pumped to the power station and through the main pipes to the high-level reservoir. During the night, the intake is closed. The river water is stored at an upper level, and it flows down, starting the cycle again.
