Both the reading passage and lecture discuss that whether painting belongs to Rembrandt or not. The former argues that this painting is not related to Rembrandt for three reasons. But the latter contradicts each of these notions.
First of all, the author of passage claims that there is inconsistency about the woman's wearings. However, the lecturer contends that deliberate analysis of painting revealed that fur collar is not part of original painting. It was added with the aim of showing aristocratic woman.
Second of all, the text asserts that light and shadow do not match with former paintings of author. In contrast, the listening counters that light-colored cloth illuminates face. Light and shadow are pretty realistic in original painting.
Finally, the author brings his argument to a close by suggesting that it was painted on a panel consists of several pieces which is quite different from other works of artist. Again, the speaker specifically adresses this point and states that painting was enlarged in order to making it more grand and valuable. Original painting was made on single wood. It was very same tree in another portrait.
To sum up, both writer and professor hold conflicting views about real author of painting.
