Construction of the New Art Building
In the coming spring term, the university will begin construction of a new art building. We should all oppose this plan because it calls for the complete destruction of our current art building which was built 122 years ago when the university first opened its doors. To destroy it would be to destroy a piece of our university’s history. Also, the university has not sufficiently planned where it will place art students during the four years of construction, presenting a great problem to incoming freshman who don’t know whether their classes will be near or far from campus.

M: Tim doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
W: Why? He made some good points.
M: No, his information is all-wrong. First, our current building isn’t historic at all, so we shouldn’t try to stop it from being destroyed.
W: Really?
M: Yeah. It’s been renovated 6 times since it was first built, so the interior is completely different from what it was when it first opened, and two floors have been added; it looks nothing like what it did when it was first built.
W: But, what about the art students?
M: I don’t know what Tim is talking about. The university has actually planned things out pretty well. You know that office building across the street from the art building?
W: Uh . . . yeah.
M: Well, that building will be where art students will have their classes during construction. Before the spring semester starts, a few modifications will be made to get the building ready for students. The great thing is that it’s so near to campus that they won’t have to worry about finding transportation. And, you know; it’s actually a really nice building too.
W: I guess he did have his facts all wrong.
