The student proposes in her letter that the students should be allowed to eat during class hours. The man disagrees with the proposal and brings up two reasons. First, he states that maybe it is helpful for the person who is eating s.th in the class but it will make a lot of noise to eat some chips, apples, or anything else. In fact, eating s.th distracts others from concentrating on the subject that the lecturer is trying to convey and this will interrupt listening to the lecturer. Secondly, the time of the class, especially the last classes in a semester, are very important and should not be wasted on activities like celebrations because the students will lose the time for reviewing the lessons and getting well-prepared for the exam.
