The reading and the lecture focus on different opinions about the new policy of shortened the working days to four- days work week instead of five- day workweek and their effects on the economy.In the reading, the writer presents the advantages of offering working four-day work week and their benefits on the economy. According to the lecture, however, the speakers states that there are no merits from this new policy but it has many drawbacks. Neverthless, the writer points out the new policy is not costly since it allows all the employee to get some rest which helps them to avoid mistakes and errors that cost the company a lot and payroll cost will be less since they would be paid 80% present of the normal pay. a good state to increase the company profit. In addition, it reduces the employment rate since they will able to hire more employees to a avoid workload. a good way to enhance the company profit. Finally, it improves the quality of the employee life since they will able to rest and having free time to with their family that helps them for not doing any mistakes in their work.
On the other hand, the speaker presents a different side of the argument. according to the lecture, the speaker states the demerits of this new policy and there are some issues to support the idea. First of all, offering this policy will cost the company more and more since they will spend more on training , the medical health benefits, the offices, and the computer for the new employee. which lead the company to spend more money. Furthermore,hiring new employees is true that will reduce the employments rate at the same time it will cost the company more. there are other options that the work which can be done by the workers who work four-day by allowing them to work overtime or working five- days instead of four-days that will reduce the expenses of the company. Finally, according to imporve the ualitly of the employess life is true but athe same time these long vcation will reduce their quality at work, will not have chance to get a dvance in their career, and lose their job. That is why, the company will perfer fivedays empolyess to manage and finish the entire work weak which benefits the company more.
