In our modern society, there are a lot of items that need to be produced with absolute haste, products like clothing and bottled water need to be out of the factory’s door as soon as possible. On the other hand, there are products that need such delicate work that a machine will never be capable of creating them. In this essay we’re going to discuss why we need both methods of production.
Machines are used to generate millions of the same product in a short amount of time, they are tasked with tedious actions and they work just as good on the first product than they do on the last one. Making products with automation machines is cheaper, faster and more precise (with less fault). For example, to run a bottled water factory with human workers, we need to pay each worker separately, and they may not do a good job. Also we need a manager to make sure the workers are doing their job right, and a health inspector to see that the water doesn’t get contaminated. All of that and the production speed is not nearly fast enough. Whereas running an automated bottled water factory would be much easier and much cheaper, we only had to pay for one bottling machine and one supervisor.
On the other hand, products like paintings and handcrafted materials cannot be produced by machines, they require hours of work by a creative mind who puts a lot of imagination into the piece. Machines are only good at making products that don’t need a lot of creativity.
In conclusion, if you ask what kind of product I prefer, I would say depends on the product itself. Some products are better if they are made by machines, they are cheaper, cleaner, have better quality and they have much less production fault. Some other products are better when they are handmade, carpets, paintings and vases are products that need imagination and creativity to be crafted, none of which a machine has.
