usefullness of zoos can be doubted on grounds if they have really failed to meet thier basic purpose they are meant for and secondly if there could be a better substitute for saving wild life. The main issue reamains the concern to save wild life. On certain grounds it can be proved no other place than zoos could be a safe option for animals.

To put the matter into proper perspecive, changed conditions from the past clearly show without human intervention animals won't be able to survive and it would be problem. Firstly, forests are no more in a position to support animals by supplying the needed amount and type of food. It has become clear by studying the incidents of animals intruding into human dwellings for survival and food. Human activities have led to dwindling space and habitat of animals and clashes in them during competition have often led animals to a losing position. Are we waiting to see a world cleared of wild life?

To elucidate the matter further, animals roam in forests without food especially carnivorous. They get infected and die in abnormal conditions as nature itself fails to nurture anymore. How could unhealthy natural conditons support healthy conditions for wild life when environment has been harmed beyond limits?

Agreed that mismanagement could be a discontent with working of zoos.But that calls for ammendment on the part of zoo authorities for needed action. It however cannot rule out the idea of singnificance zoos hold.

A zoo provides health care and food as prescribed by best animal care experts. Besides there is no incidence of poaching like a tiger for instance faces in forest. Kids can safely watch even the most ferocious creatures and learn to appreciate beauty in nature. Also a zoo prevents people from free play with animals otherwise vulnerable to abuse in wild.Thousands of cases of atrocity to creatures pass unnoticed in the wild. Who cares? What else the zoos could do?

How important is a zoo can easily be gauged by the fact that had there been zoo a little longer in the past, our kids could have seen the Australian tiger, the mamoth, the saber tooth and many other species saved but today they survive in pictures and fossils.Dodo has become History. Not to talk of big zoos, even a small could prove useful to save valuable life.
