TOEFL integrated writing: certifications

The article claims that most of the American wood companies will pay no much attention to ecocertification and provides three reasons to support. However, the professor explains that ecocertification will be tried with many wood companies in U.S for their product. He refutes each of the author's opinion.

First, the reading implies that most of the American customers paid no attention to advertisments. Conversely, the professor opposes this point by saying that costumers differentiate between advertisments for products claimed by the company itself or by which claim by independent certification agencies. And so, most of them will prefer the products which is highly ecologically certified with independent agency.

Second, the professor confirmed that surely everyone will be affected by the price as the author imply. He explains that this will be true if the price of one competing product is higher or lower than the other but if the price difference is samll and may be less than 5%, it will make no sense. Also people will appreciate preserving and protecting the environment.

Third, the article states that this argument will be important, if american wood companies decide to market their product to other countries. But again the professor opposes this by saying that it is important for all companies to be aware by what happened in business internationally for the foreign competition. He explains that if the companies did not pay attention to this, foreign products with ecocertification will be preferable the domestic ones.
