The reading passage discusses an interesting topic about the disadvantages of fossil's private trade, and provides intensive information with three main reasons for support. However, the lecture casts doubts on the claim considering it exaggerated and opposes to each reason of the reading passage.

First of all, the reading passage complains about the public interest will decline when private collectionists keep for themselves the fossils they acquired. On the other hand, the lecture refutes this idea explaining that privates collectionists could allow the distribution of the valuable fossils among libraries and schools through donations, that in other way, would be impossible to be exhibit in those institutions.

Secondly, the reading passage mentions that private collectors trend to keep the fossil out of the public and consequently, many important discoveries would be missed. Challenging this idea, the lecture sees as an advantage that many private collectionists can discovered objects, that in other way, would demand many years, or never to be uncovered.

Finally, the reading passages states that the commercial fossil collectors do not take the proper care of the fossils and important evidence is lost in their hands. On the contrary, the lecture explains that every fossils, before going to the market, need to be evaluated first by a scientists to provide its real values. Thus, nothing would be missed if a scientist analyse the object first.
