Pterosaur
In the lecture the professor made several points about powered flight capability of Pterosaur. However, the reading passage declares that they would not able to fly by flapping their wings. However, the professors’ lecture refutes the hypothesis of the reading on account of the following reasons.
First, the professor states that the fossil of Pterosaur demonstrates dense hair covering which is similar to the fur and is commonplace in warm-blooded animal and adjust the metabolism of Pterosaur like the metabolism of warm-blooded animal which could supply enough energy for flapping the wings. On the contrary, the reading passage highlights that, these cold-blood animal not able to speed their metabolism produced the required sufficient energy.
Second, the professor mentions that anatomy of Pterosaur is light enough to keep airborn and flapping the wings. In addition, the bones have hollow shape instead of being slid and as a result their weights are not enormous to prevent flapping wings. In contrast, the reading explains that they are so heavy to flap their wings swiftly.
Third, the professor declares that there are huge differences between the birds and Pterosaur. In fact, birds use only their legs and their two limbs for walking. However, Pterosaur uses all of their limbs for walking not just their backboe. On the other hand, the reading stresses that are not able to take off from the ground since their back leg muscles are too small and weak.
All in all, the professor's lecture contradicts the information of the reading passage.
Recent study of Pterosaur fossil demonstrating as warm-blooded animal, light anatomy and using the four limbs despite birds ability to use merely their legs demonstrates that capacity of powered flight or gliding is in doubt.
