There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the International music that is heard everywhere nowadays?
Globalization brings a great influence in human’s life. Cultural exchange is a piece of cake to do. People can access popular music that is sitting on the first rank in world top chart without any meaningful effort. One of the popular stuffs to exchange is music.

This condition leads young generation to love international music which they think cooler than their own traditional music. Moreover, there are some arguments emerged telling that traditional music is out of date. However, we can refer back to the essence of traditional music itself. Traditional music is one of nation’s identities. It is able to show one side of culture of the country. Some developed countries still keep its traditional music well to appreciate it as a part of the country though they are open as well to other forms of cultures.
Besides, the existence of traditional music can differ one country from others. It also creates the idea of doing a great collaboration among these countries. Usually, international students also take benefit from traditional music of their home country by performing it to students of other countries in some cultural nights. This collaboration gives a positive feedback to all participated countries as it can indicate that the countries are appreciating other cultures.
Furthermore, by preserving their traditional music, the country will get one ‘plus value’ to add its attractiveness as a tourist destination. It is always exciting to see various kinds of music in this world, especially traditional one. It is so as traditional music can give ‘peaceful’ atmosphere every time we listen to it.
The application of traditional music can also be combined as well with live cultural performance owned by the country. Having these combinations will add the value of traditional music not only as a media to entertain us and make us feel relaxed but also facilitate a great show to perform.
To conclude, I believe that traditional music is more important than international music as it can be a great bridge for the nation to maintain its identity in the hard flow of globalization.
