The article discusses the decline of the yellow cedar populations and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor states that scientists still do not know the real reason of declining in the yellow cedar populations and he refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that insect parasites, specifically the cedar bark bettle may be the real cause of damaging the trees populations. The profesor refutes this point by explaining that the healthy yellow cedar trees are highly resistant to insect infestation. These trees posses a chemical substances that are poisonous to insect. Therefore, these trees had already been damaged before the insect invasion. So, the cedar bark bettle is not the primary cause of killing yellow cedar trees.
Second, the article avers that the brown bears could destroy the yellow cedar tress because these bears may clw at the cedar in order to eat the tress bark. The professor, on the other hand, states that though brown bears caused some damage, they did not cause decline in the popluation. Because the bears are only live in the island, however, the decline of the trees popluations have happened along the coast and island areas. So, With or without the bears, yellow cedar tress have been destroyed.
Third, the reading posits that the gradual change of climate may be the cause of destruction because the cedar roots system are sensitive to cold climate. The professor opposes this point by saying that the author fails to mention that lower trees elevations are suffered much more than higher trees elevations. The professor emphaisez that if this idea is true, we should expect that higher tress elevations should suffer from frozen and not in the opposite way. So, he concludes that climate changes do not kill the yellow cedar trees.

Better to have 5 paragraphs with 3 arguments. And try always support/against one side but compare two sides, like this:
para 1: introduction
para 2: reason 1. address both of the views presented for reason 1
para 3: reason 2. address both of the views presented for reason 2
para 4: reason 3. address both of the views presented for reason 3
para 5: conclusion.
So how to find out those reasons. There is a formula:
reasons == advantages or
reasons == disadvantages
for example, we can always apply 'save time', 'save/make money', 'find a job', 'make friends', 'get more information' as reasons to all essay/speaking topics.
or we can apply 'waste time', 'waste money', 'no job', 'make bad friends', 'get bad information' as reasons to all essay/speaking topics.
