The passage states that the cane toad which is a large amphibian species native to America multiplied rapidly in Australia and thus threaten small native animlas. The author provides three measures to stop spread of the cane toad in Australia. The lecturer, nevertheless, says that these methods are unsuccessful and disproves each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that to block the spread of the toad would be to build a national fence which prevent them from moving into different parts. Conversely, the lecturer opposes this point by saying that the spread of the toad will not stop. According to the professor, cand toad eggs and young toads are in streams that move from one side to another and thus it is essential to fence the streams.
In addition, the article posits that toads could be captured and destroyed by volunteers that organized by goverment. On the other hand, the lecturer argues that even though this method could be successful to stop the tond from spreading, but volunteers will destroy native frogs especially the young frogs.
Finally, the passage expresses that by developing a disease-causing virus, the cane toad populations will be controled. Quite on the contrary, the professor emphasizes that it has terrible result on cane tond habitats. Transporting of reptile and amphibian to other countries shows that this method causes ecological disaster because the cand toads are native and limited spieces.
