The lecturer explains cloud seeding may not be effective method in the U.S. and provides three reasons to support her idea.
At the first, the professore says laboratory experiments is not sufficient to support cloud seeding method for farms. Beucause in the real life adding silver iodide to cloud may be prevent any percipitation like snow and rain and as a result cause drought. The lack of water for crops had more damaging effect. In contrast, the reading passage states that adding silver iodide to cold water vapor in the laboratory cause formation of light snow.
Secondly, the professore states cloud seeding in asian countries had been did in the cites that have air pollution. Chemichal substaces in pollution help to improve effect of cloud seeding. But in the american cities, there is not any air pollution and therefore this mothod may be not effective. In contrast, the reading section argues that successfull performance of cloud seeding in some Asian countries will be repeat in the United states farm.
Finally, the professore states that reducing hail damage recently in the central United states can not be convinient. The result may be because of change of local weather instead of clould seeding. In contraray, the reading says local studies in a farming region in the central United States shows that could seading reduced hail damaged compared to perivous years.
