The flowchart below shows the recycling process of aluminium cans.
The diagram highlights the process by which aluminium cans are recycled.
It is noticeable that there are six stages involving in the recycling process, beginning with collecting aluminium cans and finishing with reusing recycled ones with many purposes.
Looking at the detail, the first step is that aluminium cans are collected by putting into some available bins in somewhere, which are only for aluminium one thus no need to be separated with other types of rubbish. The following step is that all collected aluminium cans undergo a process including being cleaned to get rid of a dirty surface, being sorted, being shredded into smaller bits and being continually compressed in many containers, which bring processed aluminium cans to a furnace. At the point, they are heated at a high temperature for a particular period.
Following this, while the aluminium bits are still too hot, they are transferred immediately to a rolled machine to make pieces of aluminium in the thickness of 2.5 mm to 6 mm. Having been recycled as new cans using for many types of beverage in factories, the products are widely reused in many shops and supermarkets. The interesting point is that 74% number of aluminium cans are recycled in the UK, making it significantly less wasted and protective the environment.
