the graph below gives info about car ownership in Britain from 1971 to 2007.
The line chart illustrates how many cars were owned by a household in Britain during a 36-year period from 1971 to 2007.
Overall, what stands from the graph is that the total number of car owners in Britain was an upward trend over the period in question. In which, most of the households had an own car to travel.
Looking at the detail, nearly 50% of households owned no car in 1971. The figure plunged to just about a half of that proportion, around 25% in the last year. By contrast, the number of households owned two cars saw a considerable climb, from around 7% in 1971 to just over 25% in 2007.
The percentages of households that owned one car and three or more cars had smaller changes than the two remaining terms. Regarding the proportion of one-car families, it started at around 45% in 1971 and remained stable in the last year. There was a marginal proportion of households owned three or more cars in 1971, only about 1%. And then this figure was followed by a slight increase reaching around 6% in 2007.
