You are due to start a new job next week but you will not be able to because you have some problems.
Write a letter to your new employer, in your letter
Explain your situation
Describe your problems
Tell him when you think you can start.
Dear Mr. Smith,
I am writing to apologize for the inconvenience caused by me.
Two weeks ago I had an online job interview with your representative who stated that my candidature is accepted on a position of a web-designer in your company and I need arrive in Los Angeles on 2nd March 2017 to begin my work.
Unfortunately, it appears that I am not able to meet this requirement. Firstly, there are some problems with a new apartment in LA. Although I have found a suitable house for my family that is located near my new workplace, I struggle to find a decent school in the same neighborhood that will suit to my young daughter who studies at elementary school. Secondly, it seems that I contracted a severe case of flue. In fact, I have been hospitalized for a week and my doctor strictly recommended me to stay in a bed for at least two weeks in order to avoid having complications with my health.
Consequently, I would like to start my work on 1st April 2017 because by this time the disease will have been completely cured and a full course of rehabilitation will have been finished as well. Moreover, my wife will be able to find a proper school for our beloved offspring as well.
Sincerely yours,
Eugene Dubinchuk
