Both the reading and listening material concentrate on the genuine of the silver coin. The passage offers three reasons why it is fake. However, the lecturer, has a different view that it is not fake, but genious evidence.
To beging with, the reading material argues that it is too far away form Norse Settlements that can suggest that it has no real connection. But, the professor disagrees with this reason. She then points out that we have found other objects which are even more far away. So, it shows the Native Americans had an interest in traveling long distance. Thus, this cannot be used to be a powerful reason.
Then, according to the writer, we have not found any other coins. This is also argued by the professor, because it is not necessary. The Native Americans truly reached the Norse, and they brought they money back. So, there is no doubt why we could not found other coins.
In addition, the author illustrates that ths silver coin is useless for them. In fact, the Native Americans did not use them as money, however, it does not mean it has no other uses. To be more concise, they understood the usefulness of the silver coins as jewllery. In the end, the coin can be used for trade that the last reason is also unncessary to approve the author's oppoint.
