Imagine that you are in a classroom or a meeting. The teacher or the meeting leader says something incorrect In your opinion, which of the following is the best thing to do?
•Interrupt and correct the mistake right away.
•Wait until the class or meeting is over and the people are gone, and then talk to the teacher or meeting leade.
•Say nothing.
Throughout history knowledge transformation for seasoned persons to others plays an important role in all civilized societies. No one can disregard the fact that people can make mistakes in specific circumstances and say something wrong according to the audience. The act of people listening to the lecturer is very important in this situation. Nowadays, many are adamant that a myriad of elements should be taken into consideration in order to examine its constructive and destructive facets of this issue. Due to its paramount importance, huge steps have been taken to elevate its role. Some people may hold the view that we should interrupt and notice lecturer about his/her wrong saying or at least say nothing; in the meantime, some others may take an opposite viewpoint and believe its better to postpone the objection and talk to the lecturer after the speech. From my vantage point, I believe that the latter viewpoint generally carries more weight. I what follows, I will delve into the most outstanding reasons.
First off, the first exquisite point to be mentioned is that the teacher or the meeting leaders are people as any of the others and may make mistakes even if they are well educated. In fact, stating their fault in front of their audience makes them embarrassed and shy. In this case, they may lose their confidence and cannot continue their speech focus. So, it is better to talk to them after their lecture and see if they are aware of their mistakes or not.
In approaching this issue, apart from what mentioned above, there is another subtle point which must be borne in mind. It happens sometimes that the person from the audience make a mistake or does not have enough knowledge about the subject. Actually, she/he find the information said by the lecturer incorrect according to her/his limited knowledge. So, it is better to wait until the end of class or meeting and discuss her/his opinions with the lecturer.
Although the aforementioned reasons are the first ones which cross the mind at first glance, there are by no means the only reasons available. A noteworthy refreshingly intelligible statistics revealed by a recent educational research conducted in our university, show that a huge percent of people prefer to express their ideas about lecturer's incorrect information after the talk. This study has been conducted between graduate and undergraduate students who attend the classes and meeting held by relevant department regularly. all of them completed a survey on how to behave in the mentioned situation. The statistics derived from their answers indicate that most of the participants in the study prefer to postpone their opinions to after the class.
In the final analysis, according to what was mentioned in the body paragraphs above, no one could deny the fact that aforementioned subject is a controversial matter of discussion which needs to be elaborately addressed to precisely examine its aspects. Nevertheless, there is authentic evidence which can lead us to this conclusion that in case of facing with wrong information in a class or meeting the best behavior is to wait until the end of speech and talk to lecturer in private.
