Is the role of the university is only about skills?
Universities are the most important places for people to prepare themselves before they entering the real working environment. Each university plays a very crucial role to determine the quality and capacity of graduates. Knowledge and skills are the main requirements that a company or work place needs from fresh graduates to be their employer. I personally believe that the main function of a university is teaching their student about knowledge, skills, ethic and norm.
Knowledge is the major requirement from a fresh graduate when they are applying for jobs. The university have to ensure the students have good understanding on their field of study, they must having basic understanding about the field of study they are learning. Graduates whose have excellent knowledge will be easier to get job than others who don’t have knowledge.
Skill is the most important requirement in the real working environment. A company will asking about what skill the candidate has when interview session before they ask another question. The university has to pay big attention about skill which the students must have.
Finally, the main factor which needed from each university graduates are ethic and norm. the first duty of a university is not to teach about techniques or science only, but ethnic and norm. In the society life everybody must have good ethic and norm, so the university becomes the place for people to learn about ethic and norm.
At the end, I can conclude that a university has big responsibility to ensure their students to have good ethic and norm, quality of knowledge and excellent working skills. Those criterias are the major requirement from real working environment.
