The reading and lecture both discuss the theory that dionsaurs are enotherms animals or not. While the reading provides three evidences that dinosaurs are endotherms, the professor refutes, saying none of these claims are convincing.
Firstly, the reading states that diabsaurs are endotherms because they are living at polar area which is so cold. In addition, only the endotherms who can tolerate this cold enviroment. However, the speaker argues this idea by saying that if they found polar dinasaurs are living in this area that was from long time when this area was more warmer than today. Furthermore, there were many other animals that were not endotherms could live in that cold environment. So, this is not convincing that diansaurs are endotherms.
In addition, the article shows that the leg position underneath of dinasurs as same as the position of endotherms leg. So, dionsaurs are endotherms. On the other hand. the professor rejects this notion by pointing out that this is not accurate to consider dinosaurs are endotherms. This is becasue the dionsaurs used these legs to support their weight. In addition, dinosaurs were growing in large size. So, they used these legs for other advantages than running.
Finally, the reading states that they found haversian canals at dinosaurs fossils structures which is similar to haversian canals at endotherms. In contrast, the speaker contradicts this point by explaining that dinosaur's bone having haversian canals and growth rings that indicates rapid growth followed by stop growth or growth more slowley. In addition, rapid growth then slow growth is considered as a charachteristic of unendotherms. Furthermore, there are many animals other endotherms that can live even at cold envionment. So, dinosaurs are not enotherms.
