The article states that a large cane toad causes the damage to the environment. The reading provides three different ways that could prevent spreading of the large cane toad. However, the professor explains that is not easy as reading suggests. He states that this will be unsuccessful and will create huge environmental damage.
First, the reading states that national fence will stop the spreading of a toad. The professor refutes this point by stating that the fence won't stop the migration of toad. He explains that somewhere near the fence would be a river or a stream, which could carry young toads and eggs to another side. Even a few young toads are enough to establish a population. That's why professor think that this is an ineffective solution.
Second, the article claims that toads could be captured and destroyed by volunteers. However, the professor contends that this idea could have succeed but it is more likely to fail. The professor explains that people more likely to be untrained. As a result, they could destroy a native species of frog, because it is hard to distinguish different kinds of frog especially when they are young.
Third, the reading avers that researchers could make a virus which would prevent them from maturing and reproducing. The lecture opposes this point by saying that this is a bad idea. The professor states that it could cause serious consequences for their original habitat in America. He explains that infected Australian frog could be transported by researchers or pet collector and when it reaches the destination it could cause serious devastation of the ecosystem in America because this species plays a vital role in their native habitat. As a result, the ecosystem will suffer
