In the lecture, the professor makes several points about the four day week employment. The professor argues that the company requires to spend more money for the training and health benefits of their employers. This is different from the reading which states that this kind of working environment shall benefit the economy, employers as well as the company. However, the professor casts doubt on the reading with several points.
Firstly, the company will have to allocate more money for more employers. Likewise, their medical allowances should also be met. On the contrary the reading states that profit of company increases when the employers are given rest which makes them alert and less error prone on a four day work schedule. The lecture casts doubt on this by conveying that there will be more spending involved on office space and computers for the workers.
Secondly, the lecture says that the unemployment issue will not be sorted. This is due to the fact that hiring will increase the expenses and eventually the employers will have to work more and overtime to meet their expectations. Nevertheless, the reading states that there will be a hike in employment rate during the four day work environment. This point is contradicted by the statement that no additional jobs will be created.
Finally, the professor argues that the quality of life of workers will be challenged. It is claimed that there is no job stability and career advancement in a four day week employment. However, in the reading it states that more leisure time and enjoyment would definitely improve their life. These points casts doubt on the passage which confers that five days a week is more better than four days a week job culture.
