Hurricane Irma.
Irma, one of the strongest storm in the history, marched through Florida furiously. At least 30 have died as a result of the storm in Florida. Many people wanted to come homes but they could not because Irma razed all of their homes. It did not only darken and destroy millions of homes, it also flooded roads, piling them with debris and blocking off access to neighborhoods. School was closed for seven days. During these days, I was at Mississippi because my mom was terrified when she heard that the category of the hurricane was 5. In this essay, I am going to tell you about before, during, and after this storm.
To prepare before the hurricane, my dad bought some boards to cover all the windows. Then, my parents told me to pack some clothes and important papers and my father drove to Mississippi. The traffic was so horrible. There were many long lines of cars without the end waiting for escaping from the storm. I was stuck in the car for almost two days until I came to New Orleans. I felt so tired at this time. However, the worst thing is we could not find any motels or hotels available. Luckily, my dad’s friend let us stay in his house for two days. When the hurricane left, we rent a room at Super8 and stayed there for two days. I met and talked to so many people at Super8 who left Florida due to the hurricane. Finally, we got back Miami.
When people asked me if the hurricane was what I expected. I replied to them that it wasn’t. I thought it could have been worse and there could have been flooding. During the hurricane, I kept tracking news every day. I was so nervous when I saw Key West flooding on CNN.
After the hurricane, I felt very glad and thankful. At the place where I live the situation was not really bad. Unfortunately, a lot of trees fell down and there was a mess around my apartment. I passed the time by checking for damage and helping my parents clean up.
