because people increasingly eat at restaurants should be required to display nutritional information about the meals they serve. this knowledge make it easier for diners to make healthy choices and reduce the risk of diet-related health problems
Today, having meals at restaurants is not luxury any more. Since industrialization is growing globally, people spend most of their time on their jobs. Shortage of time may be the most prominent reason that why people tend to eat at restaurants more than before. Thus, it seems reasonable that a brief information about nutritional value of each meal be added to menus.
Fast pace of modern life hinder individuals from being meticulous about what they eat. Unfortunately, most of us are careless about the calorie content of our dishes or the amount of fibers, vitamins, and mineral that a particular meal provides for our bodies. An ancient proverb says "You are what you eat". A fallacious premise is that having food stuffs has the only purpose of supplying our bodies with adequate energy for work. However, nowadays, scientific research have shown that a healthy meal, which not only convey calories but also contains vital micro-nutrients,prolongs an individual's live as well as protects him/her from mortal diseases like cancers. Hence, people should have the opportunity to choose their meals according to the nutritional values of them.
Going deep through the current issue, we may highlights some corresponding drawbacks. For example, people should be educated about the effects of healthy foods and the definition of such foods; otherwise, they may not care about the so-called information labels at restaurants. A tired white-collar who is deadly hungry probably dose not care about the ingredients of his dish. He merely wants something to sooth his hunger and indulge his appetite. Therefore, adding nutritional values of each item on restaurants' menus may not exert any significant influence in such case and would be a waste of time and money.
I think that any public health measure should be well-studied as well as coordinated with other parts of social managing system. People should be educated about the role of healthy diets in order to be sensible about nutritional labels of restaurants' meals. Moreover, employers should put a reasonable break time for their employees to help them having adequate time for considering what they eat.
