Albeit many psychologists propose that people should incorporate their imagination into the reality as it serves as a powerful tool to overcome many daily stresses, anxieties and depressions, or a key characteristic that makes many artists in the area of art, music and film industry more successful lays in the possessing a strong imagination capability; however, I personally believe that it does not transcend the experience on the ground. Many reasons convince me to prefer experience as more valuable asset over imagination.
First of all, if we consider an individual with impressive imagination power who needs to lead his or her existence in the reality; can anyone guarantee that this quality assist them to satisfy the job requirements set forth by many employers when it comes to the comparison between imagination and experience? The answer to this inquiry is most likely to be “No” because from the perspective of many employers it is the career records that enable an applicant to make profit to their companies not the way they are able to imagine .
Furthermore, the above-mentioned scenario is applicable to many other areas, such as education or sport; no academic institutions have specified the imagination power as an entry criterion to academic studies or no athletes can get ahead without gaining experience in practice. Therefore, in skill based conditions the experience is the key so that the imagination is unable to make sense.
However, from psychiatric perspective the significance of imagination may be defined differently. The statement indicates that imagination is useful and effective in allowing people to push the envelopes of established habits and attitudes boundaries. In that sense imagination helps many patients to better adopt themselves with the environment and lead healthy lifestyles.
In conclusion, even though the imagination may be a positive asset in some areas; I assume that the experience is more powerful capability for individuals to succeed in their existence as it makes them more effective individuals in adopting with the complex and diverse requirements of life.
