Educational institutions have a responsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed.
Educational institutions have certain responsibilities to increase the awareness of students about different kinds of majors and support them by giving information about these majors. They cannot predict what kinds of students will be success in what kinds of majors. They have several categories and sort students based on their abilities in these categories to help them discover their intelligence and reinforce them.
Responsibility has different meanings for educational institutions that dissuading students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed, is not at the scope of their responsibilities for two basic reasons. Firstly, these institutions make an effort to guide students to find their own ways at academic education by introducing different fields of study. They provide students with the golden opportunity to take advantage of being in touch with expert people who have invaluable information about wide variety of science fields and guide them about selecting their future jobs. Secondly, one of the main missions of educational institutions is helping students to pursuing their fields whenever run into problems and give them motivation and encourage them to continuing their education.
Although institutions like universities, colleges and research institutions would not be able to predict what proportion of students could not persuade their study in certain fields of science, they can take certain measures into account to introducing certain fields that have correlation with special abilities of students and conduct them to study at that field. For instance, they know that students who cannot solve mathematical problems and face a problem even at easiest mathematical expressions while can write attractive fiction stories, cannot study at the field of engineering and it is better for him or her to select literature field for her or his academic science.
Moreover, some educational institutions consider several ways to incite students to remaining at fields they select and cannot continue them successfully. Because in some cases students need to be attracted by expert people and find their intelligence. As an example, some engineering students do not have enough information about their majors and their professors do not help them which will eventually lead to decreasing their motivation to studying at this field. Educational organizations find their abilities through make a relationship with industry and encourage their students to work at some well known and big companies as a trainee which help them to discover their abilities to work as an engineer.
In conclusion, educational institutions have certain responsibilities and mission to conduct students in their own academic ways and be a successful person for their society. These institutions could guide students to choose their fields through consulting with expert persons who have invaluable experiences about making correlation between inherent abilities and fields of studying.
