Government must ensure that their major cities receive financial support they need in order to thrive. Reason: it is primarily in cities that a nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated.
The statement is about the preservation of the cultural heritage of a nation. Then, there comes a question that is it the responsibility of the government to preserve the cultural and historical heritage. Secondly, does all such cultural and historical traditions are in the major cities. Therefore, i do not purport the author completely. The author must have said that it is the responsibility of the citizen of the nation to preserve the traditions with the help of the government. Government alone can not attain the goal.
The cultural traditions and historical developments of india that is, Mohenjodaro and Harappa are no longer a part of indian culture. And, on that even not a major city. Hence, the government should not support the funding of these heritages? The answer would be 'No'. Ajanta caves are the symbols of the age old traditions and they need to be preserved in spite of the face that they are not the part of the major city. Major cities like Newyork , Paris, Mumbai and Dubai are the financial and fashion hub of a nation. People from different parts of the world constitute these countries now. So, it becomes the duty of each individual to preserve the culture of the city.
On the other hand, government should invest money in the growth of these cultural sites as they entice most of the tourists from world wide and hence generate the revenues. These revenues further support the nation. Delhi had been the prime tourist location from ages because of the monuments like Red Fort, Quatab Minar and Jantar Mnatar.
To sum it up, i would say it is the duty of each individual living in the nation to preserve or not spoil the cultural heritage of a nation. And, to preserve the traditions it is not only the cultural sites, but also the traditions like hand craft that needs to be preserved.
