Scandals are useful because they focus our attention on problems in ways that no speaker or reformer ever could.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.
The elections were approaching and the election campaign for a party was on its best. Their candidate was supposed to be the most competitive of all other party candidates. Everything was going on perfectly until an MMS was released showing the candidate giving bribes and serving liquor to the villagers for making his vote bank. The allegation was true. Scandal spread like a wild fire and the winner-to-be lost the elections. Someone might think that can scandals be this much dangerous? Yes, Scandals can be dangerous like this and also effective (helping, at times). They can spread to a whole nation in a couple of days. But they can also be false sometimes. They may have some wrong allegations, but it can be too late to prove them false in the crucial times like in the example.
Scandals speak for themselves and they don’t need any advocacy. This makes them the most effective form of grabbing people’s attention and winning their trust, as people can always doubt the speeches and revolutionaries to be fake because there have been many cases in the past to exemplify.
People tend to believe less on the speeches made by anyone and the claims they make. Today, the deep rooted corruption has made the people apprehensive of trusting on anyone. The advantage of this kind situation is taken by the Scandals. Scandals do not have to please anyone to believe on them. They just allege people about something and people believe on it easily without giving it a second thought. These scandals are then investigated by the government or standard authorities to prove them right. If proved right, they are very useful to the people, providing instant relief to the problem.
As always, here also some exceptions are there. Many a time, media persons make false scandals to debase the reputation of politicians, film stars and other famous people, just to make news, for the popularity of their news channel or newspaper, for earning more money. Sometimes, film stars and other popular figures make their own scandals for gaining popularity and getting known worldwide. Also, these types of scandals are very difficult to investigate as they are very carefully planned out and taken care of not to get caught.
In conclusion, it can be said that if the scandal is not false, the argument holds a very strong position. Scandals put light on different problems of the society and gives instant relief to people. Government also takes quick actions against alleged people or problems. But if the scandal is proved false, it can have even worse effects.
