Chorleywood is a village near London whose population has increased steadily since the middle of the nineteenth century. The map below shows the development of the village.

The map shows the development of Chorleywood village between 1868 and 1994. The area of the village has been widening since the middle of nineteenth century. Steadily increasing population is the main reason of why the area needs development.
During 1868-1883, Chorleywood was just a small village. It was located in east side of the main roads. In the 1883-1922, the village developed and increased twice as the prior’s size. There was also an improvement of the area, which was the railway which built in 1909.
The railway seemed to be a favor of the village. As the population increased, the area was developed near the rail road. It was happen in 1922-1970. The development spared by the prior area and the main roads.
Then, in 1970, a motorway has been built east side the prior area. The development of the village kept going since that year until 1994. The new developed areas were lying near the motorway and the north side of the main road.
