Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Children should be required to help with household tasks as soon as they are able to do.
Nowadays, in modern families doing housework is considered to be solely parents’ responsibility and as a result, children rarely participate in this process. However, some people find this fact unfair as they think kids should be involved in household tasks when they are capable of it. I strongly consent to that opinion and I will try to cast a light on my viewpoint below.
To begin with, children are expected to fulfill some certain functions and doing housework precisely is not one of them. In order to give more detailed information, without any doubt the main task of kids is doing well at their lessons. And this fact leads us to our point that as a very time consuming activity household tasks prevent children to reach their educational targets.
My other supporting point is that children inevitably learn doing housework when needed, it is just a matter of time. To be more precise, naturally, when children turn to adults and move their own houses they gradually learn household tasks. In reverse, they will have to live in very untidy conditions which are clearly undesirable for anyone.
However, we cannot deny that involving children in daily char can be beneficial to some extent in order to help their parents. It is mainly true for the families in which both parents spend most of their time at work and come home feeling tired. On the contrary, obviously this situation does not regard to all households.
To sum it up, while it can be argued, taking all the above discussed points into account I personally think that it is not necessary to make children take part in household activities.
