Transportation is considered to be a major necessity in our daily living. Whether we own or rent a vehicle, we make sure that it should be as convenient as possible. As years go by, our perception of convenience has changed dramatically as influenced by the increasing population. As demand of ease of transportation dominates, production of more vehicles became inevitable.
There are countries that imposed different regulation to prevent road problems brought about by increased number of vehicles we have today. What I believe the most effective is the ownership to bid and encouraging people to utilize alternative modes of transportation.
Ownership bid, like being implemented in Singapore, effectively regulates the number of car purchase by overpriced cars and expensive insurance as requirement to bid for ownership. As a result, some people somewhat having hard time to afford the car purchase. Thus, controlling the number of vehicles occupying the roads preventing congestion.
Another way of resolving road congestion would be limiting the use of privately owned vehicles, and take public transportation instead. Parking our own vehicles in our garage will save us money by limiting our refuelling expenses, and it will also contribute to less vehicles occupying the roads. If public transportation is not a convenient for us, riding a bicycle will also the best alternative, and cheapest too. Owning a bicycle will cause you less maintenance, and healthy body as well.
In conclusion, road congestion is brought about by increased number of vehicles that occupy our roads today. By implementing regulation to decrease the number of vehicles is the most effective way, not only solving road congestion, but promoting healthy life to the population as well.
