The graph below shows the population figures of different types of turtles in India between 1980 and 2012.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram illustrates the trend of turtle population, divided by type, in India between 1980 and 2010. Data are presented on an index basis, related to 1980 turtle populations, showing at the same time tendencies of three particular species (Leatherback, Green, Olive Ridley turltes) and all species as a whole.
In the period considered, the general amount of turltes remained stable on 1980 values, with little fluctuations and a final slight increase of 10%. If general data flew between 100 and 110, the tendencies of specific turtle types ranged more consistently.
In detail, the most changing trend was the Leatherback turtles one, plumming from starting values to 60, decreasing of 40% after reching a peak in 1987 at 111. A volatile trend is also presented by Green turtles, with sudden increases and decreases through the whole period, ending with a 10% loss in 2012 at an index value of 90.
The exception is represented by Olive Ridley turtles, which went up steadily from 1980 to 1997 before assuming a volatile trend in the following 15 years to close in 2012 at almost 130 (+30%) through the 32-year period.
