Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective?
Augmentative the price of gasoline is the great method to accomplish the numbering of traffic and gases problems. I agree with this following statement in two sides. The government should pay attention to public transportation and tax of private vehicle.
Public transportation nowadays is a method to solve pollution problems on the road. People can feel that general transport is cheaper than utilize private vehicle. Today, the cost of fuel is IDR 6,000 each liter. To drive a car, I need at least 20 liters for three days if I go to campus and back to my home every day. To calculate, I require IDR 120,000 per three days and it builds me spend much money for gasoline. Besides, the value for public transportation is IDR 3,000 per stage. Absolutely, most people prefer to pick mini bus which has cheap cost than utilize car every day. However, the numbers of own transportation are growing up. It is because of low tax for own transport.
Tax for private transport should be increasing. It provides public transport to handle actively on the street. Most traffic problem is the proportion of own vehicle such as motor bike and car. If government focuses to raise the price of fuel and tax of private vehicle, I think the numbers of private transport can be falling down. Indeed, it supports the condition of gases scale in the traffic jam which can decrease then.
In contrast, the situation of general transportation is not comfortable for some people. They think about safety in public streets. It brings them who prefer to utilize own car than public transport.
In the end, I concur that the value of fuel should be increasing to control the numerous of the vehicle and should be decreasing the level of pollution problems.
