Modern educational institutions do not offer all the ingredients that are needed for success. To what extent do you agree with the above statement?
Yet, for most of the successful people, those in business world especially, education probably is only one of the factors that have contributed to their success. That is to say, being successful depends on other things such as practical experience, personality, opportunity and may be luck.
Although many universities now offer a lot of practical courses, success often is based on the accumulation of practical experience which can not be learnt in an academic context. In fact, many successful people such as Jobs Steve even waived their studies in university to preoccupy with their own business. This truth is even more visible in China, where most of the renowned businessmen did not receive any tertiary education or even secondary education during their formative years. These are the flawless illustration that success is not dependent upon academic results as traditionalists perceive. Therefore, tertiary education institutions does not necessarily guarantee that graduates with first honor could succeed in the way they succeeded in schools.
Opportunity plays a pivotal role in success as well. Some people complain that they have had no opportunities and believe that they will be as successful if they were handed with what others grasped. In fact, opportunities exist for nearly everybody. It is only those who are more diligent and perspiring that would not lose sight on the opportunity as the ordinary people.
As an old adage with goes, “If you fail to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Though it is fair to say that a few men succeeded with luck, most of the successful people succeeded just because they seize their days and grasp it tight while others indulge themselves with an unrealistic will in the hope of success.
