Modern lifestyles mean that many parents have little time for their children. Many children do not get as much attention from their parents as children did in the past.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It has been known that parents are the main guardians for their children. Whilst it is possible to claim that today’s modern lifestyles is associated with inadequate attention towards young children from their parents compared to decades ago. I personally believe that there are some arguments that counter this statement. Therefore, in this essay, I shall further elaborate my point of view by analysing both sides of the arguments.
Generally speaking, modern lifestyle is associated with busy working parents and neglected children. Perhaps, one of the greatest reasons is the adults are struggling to earn more money to provide a better lifestyle for their family. As a consequence, one will spend less quality time with their children due to long hour at work. Another related issue is modern parents tend to purchase luxurious items for their children, such as IT gadgets. If the child owns a computer, they will eventually communicate less with their parents as a result of being pre-occupied with computer games.
Although modern lifestyle parents have less time for their children, not everything about this is true. Modern parents are more likely to have bonding time with their children as they can work at home by utilising telecommunication. Another point to be made is modern parents usually are surrounded by high technological gadgets and soft wares such as Ipad and Skype. Therefore, parents can easily stay connected with their children through video-calling or other available services.
In a nutshell, it is evident that modern lifestyle will result in less time spent between parents and their young ones, not least because of busy working life and children pre-occupied with IT gadgets. This is however, balanced by the fact that IT gadgets can be a useful tool to enhance communication with their children. In my opinion, modern lifestyles parents still have much bonding time with their children compared to the previous generation.
