News editors decide what to broadcast on television and what to print in newspapers. What factors do you think influence these decisions? Do we become used to bad news? Would be better if more good news was reported?

There are several things that should be considered by news editors what to advertise on TV and to print in newspaper. All these things should give a good reflection to an audience or a reader.

TV or newspaper currently focused on bad news and it is terrible when the bad news is repeated all over again and again. In Indonesia for example, if there is a bad news about violation, all the TV stations and newspaper keeping, updating the news and broadcasting the details to the audience and the news will be kept to be repeated for some coming days. Then we can hear other likely stories in another week. Do not exaggerate a news to be repeated many times is one of the factors that influence the decision.

The second important factor is the quality of the news. We can not pretend not to hear the news, once we hear the bad news, another coming day we will hear another likely news as if people learn how to copy the news. It will be good if it comes to the good news, the good news about one success man will motivate another man to do so, but what happened if it comes to bad news? In Indonesia, the bad news are about the same for day to day. Harshness and violation that happened to a girl is about the same to others. Since the news is broadcasted, people try to copy it, it influence them to do so.

The news is repeated and it gives the details on how the situation is created. Currently we become used to bad news. It is not to say that the media should not inform the bad news. But the media should give the news (bad or good) the same portion and not to extravagance the news then people can learn from the news.

Thus, the media and and the audience together should see the news wisely. It will give a good or bad impact to the audience depend on how the news is broadcasted or how people are reflected to the news.
