test advantages outweigh disadvantages?

In the world, every country has developed its own school rules and programmes, in order to provide the best level of education, according to financial and cultural aspects. What all those systems have in common are tests and exams, which have always been a core and crucial instrument of education. Whether tests are of discussable utility or not, is not completely clear.

It certainly true that, as any student has experienced many times in a life, assessments are stressful and can lead to hard period to cope with. In addition, some people could claim that the results are not always completely fair or, at least not in strict accordance with the preparation of the candidate. This is true especially if the test taker is emotional and is not able to fully show qualities and skills, due to anxiety as a result of the pressured imposed.

On contrast, although those disadvantages of the exams must be taken into account, the advantages as far as I am concerned and, probably in the opinion of the education institution, outnumber and are more important than the side effect. In fact, the simple idea of a marked examination is the most effective measure to stimulate pupils to commit and study as much as the can. Moreover, in adult's life everyone will face more than a competition or deadline, both at work or in the family, therefore the best way to be prepared is to train to cope with this since childhood, Another benefit of tests which can not be forget is the sense of reward which a successfull candidate would achieve in passing it.

In conclusion, I believe that tests have not minor controindications and can be harmfull, especially from a physicological point of view, however they are a well recognized and usefull mean to ensure both commitment from students and proof of real preparation for teachers.
