The table compares the year of opening, length of the route and the number of yearly passengers of underground railways in six different cities.
It is clear that London is the oldest city that opened the underground railway, and has the longest length of route compared to the other cities. But the railway in Tokyo relatively takes the most passengers per year.
The oldest underground railway station was built in London in 1863, while the second oldest one was opened in 1900 in Paris. London Railway station has the longest route for trains, with 394 kilometres, whereas the figure for Paris accounted for 199 kilometres. However, Trains in Paris take 1191 people on a yearly basis, which are more than the number of passengers of London railway (775 people).
Tokyo underground railway, which was built in 1927, takes by far the highest number of passengers, with 1927 people, among the other stations in different cities. 1927, 144, 45 and 50 people used the railway service in Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles, respectively. The shortest routes were found in Kyoto and Los Angeles, with 11 kilometres and 28 kilometres, each.
