The bar graph represents the differences of unemployment rates by gender between ages of 20 to 24 in Europe from 2008 to 2009. Overall, the unemployment rates were higher in 2009 than that of 2008 and male’s unemployment is higher than that of females’ despite having the same trends.
Looking at the detail, the overall unemployment rates for 2008 was lower than that of 2009, in particular, 2008’s figure was about below 10%, compared to above 10% for the figure for 2009.
In comparison, the unemployment rate for male started at 10% in January 2008 which decreased remarkably to about 7.5% in July 2008 before skyrocketed to over 20% by October 2009, while female graduates’ unemployment rate also witnessed the same trend; low in January of half of male graduate’s unemployment rate, decreased to the lowest point of about 6% in July 2008 before skyrocketed to close to 15% by October 2009 except had the plunge in April 2009 of recorded at 6%.
