In summary, a large percentage of men remains unemployed throughout the chart when compared to women. While the ratio of unemployed women is lesser compared to men, the number increased till it reached the year 2009.
The first three quarters of the year 2008 showed a meagre unemployment rate and is less than 10% for both men and women. It increased dramatically in the last quarter of the year [October 2008] where the percentage is greater than 15 and 10 for men and women respectively.
During the year 2009, the scenario is different. The percentage rate was around 12% in case of men during the first three quarters while it is less than 10% during the first two quarters for women. It increased slightly to 10% for women in the third quarter which is July 2009. The inception to the last quarter had a drastic change in the unemployment rate for both the genders where it rose to 20% and more in men. For the women, it was nearly 15%.
