This bar chart illustrates the production and consumption of electricity in ten ten countries in 2014. The data is given in billions of kWh. Overall, the disparity in the consumption and production tends to be rather insignificant.
In 2014, the leading producer and consumer of energy was China with 5,398 billion kWh and 5,322 billion kWh, respectively. The second country that consumed and produced considerably more energy than others is United States with around 250 billion kWh more being produced than spent.
As can be seen from the chart, other countries generate and use noticeably less energy than the two mentioned above. While generally the production of energy is sufficient for the countries to cover the consumption, Germany is the only country that used more energy than it generated. Moreover, Russia produced almost the same amount of energy as they needed in 2014. Ultimately, the greatest discrepancy can be observed in India, yet still the difference in numbers is not that dramatic.
