The bar chart below illustrates the percentage of participation rates in top ten sports in 1998 and 2005 in Canada.
As can be seen from the chart, participation rates in all sports decreased significantly in 2005 except for soccer. The most popular athletics are ice hockey and golf.
Golf was started with dropped down from 23% in 1998 to 21% in 2005. Following that, ice hockey is the favorite sport after golf also began with at 17% in 1998 and declined 1% in in 2005. The proportion of people joining in baseball in 1998 were 17%. After 7 years, this number fell enormously over 10%. In addition, the swimming participants rates reduced from 13% to about 10%.
In 1998, the quantity of people playing Tennis, Cycling, Downhill/ skiing, Volleyball and Basketball were about 8%. And there were minimally decreased of 1 to 2% in the participation rates of these sports in 2005. Different with others exercises, soccer was the only sports had tended to increased in 2005 from 9% in 1998 to around 10% players.
