The bar chart and line graph give information about immigration, emigration and net migration in the UK from 1999 to 2008.

Overall, we can see that in 2006 the number of people immigrated was the biggest, but for emigration, the peak reached in 2008. Moreover, net migration had the highest number in 2004 and 2007.

From 1999 to 2003, there was an uptrend for immigration, then the figure rose significantly at almost 600 thousands in 2004 and peaked in 2006 at the highest point. On the other hand, emigration also went up but quite fluctuated between 1999 and 2006. However, in 2007, it went down sharply by approximately 50 thousands and rocketed to over 400 thousands in 2008.

It can be seen that the bar chart could be divided into two stages. From 1999 to 2003, net migration fluctuated in between 150 thousands and about 170 thousands. In contrast, it reached its peak in 2004 at 250 thousands people, followed by about 230 thousands in 2007.
